A dynamic folk success that compels from solemn acoustic-set ruminations to brass-laden anthemic heights, “When The Sea Came To Tea” comes via Little Juke. The Birmingham, England-based band thoroughly impress on their third single, which comes ahead of their upcoming debut album, Departures from the State of Mind, out on February 13th, 2025.
The lovely, evolving instrumentation and tonal range is complemented by a personal, relatable thematic hold. Lead vocalist and songwriter Alex describes the release as “a metaphor for dealing with anxiety and uncertainty; how you get over that. It’s also about the people who get you through the hard times—friends and family. We’re proud of this song. It means a lot to us.”
Introspective vocals and solemn piano open the track with spacious intrigue. “Falling fast, deep in the waters I drown,” they lament as impactful guitar strums enter, expanding with cathartic immersion into a brass-led spirited invigoration. The instrumentation collides beautifully during the grandiose, stirring finale. “When The Tea Came To Sea” is a rousing success from Little Juke.
