Leonardo Barilaro – “Black Sun”

/

Inspired by sounds captured from the recording of a black hole, “Black Sun” is a riveting piano-driven track from Italian artist Leonardo Barilaro. His passions for science and music intertwine with a commendable drive to share the importance of space exploration. The production here excels with a simultaneous feeling of entrancement and unease, particularly in its infusion of eerie piano lines with the NASA recording of a black hole.

Quaint piano fragments twinkle with intrigue as solemn chords emerge sporadically, commencing “Black Sun” with a gorgeous unveiling. A ghostly, whirring effect intertwines with plucky instrumentation and foreboding piano past the first minute. Then arrives an enthralling mid-point, where chills are induced via a stutter-y high-pitched emotion that traverses into delectably ominous waters. “Black Sun” doesn’t let up in its enveloping atmospheric pursuits, immersing in its darkly impactful melding of piano with inventively unsettling effects.

The track also releases alongside a captivating music video, made in collaboration with the artist Dr Merritt Moore:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
