Housewyfe – “a race for inner space”

//

Housewyfe melds psychedelic ’60s pop mystique with hook-friendly dreaminess on new single “a race for inner space,” described by the San Diego-based artist as “a song about a girl living in the Cold War era and working in a secret remote viewing program.” Flashes of organs meld with twangy guitars for an enjoyable intrigue, moving seamlessly into the “sky-high, where I’m meant to be,” blissfulness in the chorus.

The initial “in for the journey,” drive is equally riveting, complemented by brassy adornments into conveyed feelings of unease. Cinematic in its themes with an aptly stylish, nostalgic range of instrumentation, “a race for inner space” is another striking success from Housewyfe, who first caught our ears last year with the track “Light Instead.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
