Oxford-based duo EtaCas deliver a smitten indietronica appeal on new single “Blow Me Away,” out today. Channeling both new-wave nostalgia and modern electronic shimmering, the track excels in its climactic structural swell and anthemic vocal spirit — “we’ll stay strong,” they let out at one point, venturing into gorgeous synth and guitar interplay. They describe the personal track as “about watching someone you love go through the heartbreaking process of becoming a carer for a family member, whilst trying to keep the rest of life together.”
“I could see you’re on a mission, trying to come to a decision,” a steady vocal pace lets out, beckoning for miracles in the midst of devastation. “You blow me away,” an affecting vocal soaring immerses. The beauty of perseverance within the “whatever comes,” sentiment is gripping. “We’ll stay strong,” they continue, moving into lush synth tones during the verses. The pulsing bass and effervescent synth tones pair with the anthemic vocals for a compelling, replay-inducing sound, full of genuine emotion. This marks another success in 2024 for EtaCas, who caught our ears with the track “Protect Us From The Storm” in June.”
