Edie Yvonne – “epitome”

Pairing heartfelt angst and a rock/pop melodic immediacy, “epitome” is the latest single from Edie Yvonne. Frustrated initial lyrics don’t mince any words — “I’m so fucking sick of all your shit,” — alongside playful synth pulses and chugging guitar tones. “I’m all messed up,” further lyrical admissions lead into heavy doses of distortion and enthused vocal rise. The “to me,” element of the title is further emphasized alongside a melodic fusing of sturdy guitars and dreamy synths.

“epitome” effectively captures themes of being unable to get through to someone, alongside the resulting feelings of frustration and heartache. Edie Yvonne continues to showcase a penchant for replay-inducing, affecting tracks with a tendency to arise from serenely approachable pop into rock-friendly vigor — as shown on previous standout tracks like “Delusion” and “Burn.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
