Edditter – “Snowflakes Flight”

/

Its compelling soundscape reflective of a snowfall on Christmas night, “Snowflakes Flight” comes via Italian artist Edditter. The project embraces a blend of neo-classical beauty and ambient intrigue, bringing to mind influences such as Brian Eno, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Jean Michael Jarre amidst an audible appreciation for nature. The innately atmospheric charm is further bolstered by the track’s recording setting; the composition and recording took place during an actual snowfall. Edditter describes the release as “an attempt to make an unsaturated and suggestive musical representation of a snowfall on Christmas Night.”

“Snowflakes Flight” develops with enveloping intrigue, feeling parts delectably experimental and seasonally familiar. A sonar-like twinkling echoes into a blaring resonance, parts warming and foreboding in its spacey synth backing. Glimmering bell-like effects prance with ethereal captivation into the mid-point. The production’s embrace of spaciousness and lush instrumental simmering results in a comfortingly melodic slice of holiday atmosphere.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Obscure Ambient.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
