A heartfelt live performance from Bella Gate envelops on the newly released “Drink With Me,” where emotively gripping vocals, lush piano, and lovely string arrangements converge with impactful immersion. The 23-year-old London-based artist’s track balances themes of personal tumult with the importance of hanging onto hope, particularly through the love of others. Gate, who has been writing music since the age of 9, traces this song back to her teenage years.
“I wrote the song when I was 15 and in it I take apart my own character and the predicament I found myself in,” Gate explains. “The chorus, on one level, is about underage drinking and falling in love. On another level, it’s about being together, with or without a drink in hand, and finding community in a partnership, friendship, or family/chosen family.”
A solemn, lounge-friendly piano prowess complements a stirring vocal introspection, lyrically feeling at a crossroads amidst personal strife. The “know you will pull through,” glimmer of hope finds accompanying embrace in chilling strings. The title-touting beckoning furthers that captivation, as Gate sings “let it just be us tonight.” The jazzy balladry aesthetic and enthralling vocal presence, with shades of Carole King, results in a strikingly memorable success from Bella Gate.
