Uudee’s Swashbuckling Dandies – ‘NOWSTALGIA’

Mongolia-based collective Uudee’s Swashbuckling Dandies unveil a mystique-filled rock sound across their debut album, NOWSTALGIA. No stranger to sprawling, creatively eclectic rock experimentation, the band excel across the release — kick-started right away by the dizzyingly beautiful synth and guitar interplay within “Face Suite.” That brief introduction then gives way to the majestic “Yo Face – String Version,” which swells from steady guitar-laden pulses into a caressingly psychedelic appeal; calming vocals and heartrending string arrangements follow accordingly, fully captivating.

Another highlight, “Could U Rly Luv Me” displays the act’s tendency for more heart-tugging folk glimpses. The title-touting questioning melds with twangy guitar trickles and cinematic, sweeping strings. “Could you be there for me?” an additional vocal presence emits, conjoining in a duet during the “we’ll have a beautiful life, you and I,” adoration; the yearning to be side-by-side, and take on life together, is gorgeously conveyed. From the swampy psych-rock envelopment of “oh baby!” to the riveting guitar/synth/strings fusing within finale “Somewhere Along In Time,” NOWSTALGIA concludes in exceptional form as well — marking a consistently enthralling success from Uudee’s Swashbuckling Dandies.

“Could U Rly Luv Me” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
