Tropical Vampire – “So Soft Blue”

/

A ghostly art-pop intrigue haunts throughout “So Soft Blue,” a new single from Tropical Vampire. The project is fronted by producer Anna Helmersson, originally from Australia and presently based in Sweden. Melding ambient pop and atmospheric electronic experimentation, “So Soft Blue” represents the second single from the act’s upcoming debut album. Tirzah and Smerz are cited as influences, with Helmersson emphasizing “mood in a contemplative and introspective way.”

The strong atmosphere on “So Soft Blue” is palpable from the get-go. Steadily glistening keys provide a steady backbone as stabs of electronic effects linger within ruminating percussive components. Submerged, quaint vocal feelings maintain a tonal consistency throughout. The sporadic bursts of electronics pair with the lush keys and hypnotic rhythms for an enveloping listening experience from Tropical Vampire.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
