Melding themes of late-night drives with a bursting rock charisma, “Red Eye Open Sky” is another winning track from Milwaukee-based duo The Pulltops. Lyrical references to reaching one’s destiny — or an end-of-road destination, at the very least — pair with triumphant guitar tones and vocal passion for a climactic, melodic success. “She’s waiting,” the vocals let out at one point, moving into an infectious “can’t sleep, ’til I’m by your side,” bridge with extra rousing fervency. A spoken yearning to make it home before daylight builds further upon the momentum.
“Driving through the night,” the scene is set immediately. “I’m like a lonely satellite, with you by my side.” The lonesome open-road journey is strongly conveyed, aptly accompanied by twangy guitars and bustling bass — feeling like an echo of the chugging vehicle, traveling at night with glistening stars above. A palpable sense of longing, whilst celebrating the eventual embrace at journey’s end, pairs with a resonating rock production for the latest standout from The Pulltops.
