The Despair Collective – “Breathe Again”

/

Buffalo-based band The Despair Collective present a commanding, emotive rock enthrallment on new single “Breathe Again.” A darkly foreboding tonal direction is propelled by intensifying guitar distortion, amidst vocal laments that “my heart was turned into pieces.” The cathartic, title-referencing hook stirs in its powerful arrival — capturing the release’s themes of perseverance and self-discovery following a tumult-filled relationship.

“I can find how to breathe again,” vocalist Dana Fogle lets out, complemented by the impassioned guitar work of Mike Longo. The “wall of sound” rock production comes via Doug White, renowned for his work with Gym Class Heroes. Longo’s sweltering guitar solo in especially gripping, navigating seamlessly into a final “find how to breathe again,” exultation. “The song is about finding yourself and moving on after a troubled relationship,” the band explains of the track, which represents a surefire success from The Despair Collective.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
