A memorably lush pop introspection stirs throughout Blooming Season Part 1, the new EP from Sonia Stein. The Warsaw/London-based singer/songwriter describes the release as “about wanting to feel fully present and surrender into the moment knowing that it is magical and fleeting at the same time.” Stein’s soulfully serene vocal presence melds with a diverse array of sounds — from the quaint synths of the title track to the ringing guitar work on “Insatiable” — and compelling lyrical prowess for a thoroughly successful sound.
“I’m starving for your love, insatiable,” Stein sings on the aforementioned track, dazzling in its climactic bass-driven thumps and ascending vocal rise. “Gonna need some help, to keep it to myself,” the vocals admit during a sophisti-pop bridge, culminating wonderfully in an anthemic rock charm. The EP opener “Blooming Season” is another charmer, marking a collaboration with Polish producer Duit and enveloping in its electronic pop embrace as a result. “I want it all,” hooky vocals stir there, consuming with an atmospheric pop glow. Sonia Stein fully immerses across this standout EP.
