RITUALS – “Illusions”

/

A riveting post-punk single out today from Toronto-based act RITUALS, “Illusions” is described as “a song about anxiety and trying to meditate your way thought a panic attack.” Clanging bass, sporadic vocals, and a chilly synth craft immediate intrigue — driving into beautifully blaring guitar tones as the one-minute turn approaches, thereafter maintaining a steady captivation between dreamy vocal contemplation and bursting guitar injections.

The steady vocal prowess, steady rhythmic pulse, and escalating guitars combine for a thorough success from RITUALS, formed in 2009 as a bedroom project by Adam Seward, and now comprising a full band that includes Phil Wilson (Clothes Make the Man, Vire), Chris Riel (Decades, Lobby), and Alistair Blundale (Featherweight, Shallow Waves).

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
