Nyla Tiara Love – “schreien”

A brisk electro-pop mover from Vienna-based artist Nyla Tiara Love, “schreien” invigorates with its buzzing synth drive and palpable vocal momentum — intertwining a debonair lead with more expressive reflective adornments. Representing the alias of Daniella Odongo, the punk-friendly vigor cohesively melds with an electro-pop passion. Lyrical vulnerability comes enjoyably alongside, capturing a sense of confusion and vulnerability in the spotlight of love. Production from RICHI captures the evident vocal passion and hypnotic yet excitable synth and percussive interplay.

The one-minute turn is particularly gripping in its scaling-back of the initial synth buzzing, assuming a dreamier introspection. The central lyrical refrain is especially impactful in its depiction of emotional confusion. The words translate to: “I want to scream because I don’t know what you mean, when you tell me that you love me.” These follow more smitten emotions — “and your kisses, they’re so beautiful, I could cry,” — that chillingly captures the development of a once-rosy relationship. “schreien” is a compelling success from Nyla Tiara Love.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
