MatAre – “The Day I Left This World”

/

Serene guitar jangles and melodic vocal dreaminess compel on “The Day I Left This World.” The track marks another stylish, debonair rock success from MatAre — enamoring earlier this year with tracks like “On Purpose” and “Forever Light.”

“I want to live, I want to thrive,” the vocals aspire, admitting not knowing how long this journey of life will continue to go on. Jangly guitars surround the enticing vocal work, as the “when I get there,” introspections on morality continue the captivating and lush drive, showing shades of The War on Drugs in its pleasant aesthetic. The mid-point guitar emphasis furthers the delectably hypnotic rock production, affirming another standout from MatAre.

MatAre elaborates more on the track: “This song is a fantasy about discovering the secrets of life and death. Upon, death, everyone is granted this knowledge. The earth, the world we live on is actually what many would think of as a god. We merge into it when we die. Our bodies and bones fade into it.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
