A radiant folk sounds emanates across “Runnin’,” a stellar new single from NYC-based singer/songwriter Kat Reinhert. The lyrical drive within celebrates a sense of renewal — “not running away, running toward something new,” — and feels poignantly reflective of its time period, written during the pandemic. In particular, the track was inspired by the many people who looked to escape NYC during the pandemic, into more open spaces.
“Did you ever wanna leave the town that you’re in?” Reinhert asks pointedly, opening the track with an inviting call for change. Lush acoustics and sporadic guitar twangs melodically join alongside, driving seamlessly into the aforementioned chorus: “not running away.” The “it’s gonna be good,” optimism follows that embrace of finding something new, fully embracing change and one’s personal power to do so. “Runnin'” is a relatable, charming success from Kat Reinhert.
