A riveting EP that spans from dreamy pop to textured psych-rock, FLOW comes via Oslo-based project Glassmanet. The audio/visual artist who fronts the act, Glassmanet, is joined by bassist Hannah Mørtl and drummer Embrik Berge. FLOW is the second of a double-EP concept, following up last year’s EP EBB — and culminating in a joint release on vinyl in early 2025. A mini-tour in Norway and across Scandinavia will also ensue.
Opening single “Floating On” is exemplary of Glassmanet’s delectably woozy charms. References to a “floating rock in space,” provides perspective, aptly set within a lushly absorbing array of mellow guitars and lush vocals. Chilly synths and escalating vocals send chills in the final sequence, concluding a beautifully spaced-out opener. “Lagoon (on the moon)” is another highlight, dazzling in its pit-pattering percussion and multi-vocal enjoining — resulting in a blissful “sea of tranquility,” hook. The track’s music video is similarly enveloping.
The EP’s most hypnotic result, “Onda” soothes with an anesthetic blend of warming vocal layers. The guitar tones squiggle along, conveying a serene appeal that resembles an object drifting slowly underwater. Glistening additions meld alongside enthused vocals in the consuming final minute. “With Onward Flow” concludes the EP with magnetic appeal, centering around a title-touting gorgeousness that once again struts the project’s talents for layering melodic vocals, hazy guitars, and a beautifully dreamy drive.
