Elise – “I Don’t Mind”

/

An introspective success that blends melodic folk and pop, “I Don’t Mind” is a new single from Elise, a singer/songwriter based in Ireland. Themes of self-love are apparent, particularly when confronted with doubters and those who fail to recognize your personal worth. “I don’t mind,” heartfelt vocals let out during the central hook. “Doesn’t matter anyway.” There’s a cathartic sense of relief conveyed in the self-valuing confidence — “you will never see my soul,” lyrically standing out, showing a willingness to move on rather than attempting to rationalize with those who drag one down.

“I wasted a smile, when I should have kept it for myself,” Elise sings, further cementing the importance of valuing personal happiness — and being wary of those who try and steal the sunshine away. “Keep talking about my broken heart/mind,” continues the melodic momentum, driving into a lovely final minute with twangy guitar delights. “I Don’t Mind” is a replay-inducing showcase in quality songwriting from Elise.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
