Christian J Smith – “Electric Velocity”

/

Balancing lush emotion and more expressive electronic ardency, “Electric Velocity” is a new single from Christian J Smith. The Yonkers-based artist excels with a dynamic tonal offering here, showcasing a colorful palate of inspirations — from bustling dubstep to more meditative lushness, drawing from experiences like playing video games.

Self-produced in his room, the track is part of a trio of releases — also comprising “Electronic Velocity 2” and “Electric Velocity 3.” For this particular release, Skrillex was a noted influence. “I’ve always been a huge fan of Skrillex and his song “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” inspired me to make this song,” Smith explains.

“Electric Velocity” is particularly captivating in its infusion of vocal elements, weaving in and out with wordless dreamy impact as whirring synths clank about with melodic immersion. Lusher piano adornments complement, adding a rainy-day mystique. “Electric Velocity” is just over two minutes long, though makes a strong impression in its dubstep-forward griminess and serene vocal implementations alike.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Electronic. Stream the playlist below:
