London-based quartet The Silent Era strut a commanding sound on new track “Oscillations,” compelling in its dynamic range between moody post-punk intrigue and escalating goth-rock vigor. The single comes via the band’s upcoming debut album, out on November 1st. That will be preceded by a Halloween release party at London venue The Victoria. Check the details on the event here.

Clanging bass, pulsing percussion, and enjoyably eerie vocals comprise a climactic series of opening verses. An eruption of guitar distortion coincides with the vocals’ seamless escalation from understated, nocturnal contemplations into a passionate rock-forward energy. Themes on perseverance and forgiveness linger alongside, with “every voice in my head is singing the same line,” emitting an introspective intrigue as the post-punk verses escalate into another impassioned chorus. “Oscillations” is a gripping success from The Silent Era that has us firmly anticipating their upcoming full-length.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
