The Heroic Enthusiasts – “Wake Me When It’s Over”

/

“Wake Me When It’s Over” is the stirring new track from New York-based duo The Heroic Enthusiasts. The release features production from the noted Stephen Hague, acclaimed for his involvement with New Order, Peter Gabriel, Erasure, and beyond. Coming ahead of the act’s upcoming album Illuminate, out in early 2025, the single combines moody guitars and vocal escalations, culminating in satiating form to the “everything repeats,” hook. The duo first caught our ears with the track “Tears Run Rings” last year.

“You can wake me when it’s over, and we’ll go back and start again,” the vocals proclaim, contemplating the line between building it up or “tearing it all down.” Conveying a challenging crossroads in one’s life, prompted by important decisions, “Wake Me When It’s Over” invigorates in its traversal from initial introspection into the “everything repeats,” repeating ardency. “It gets harder when you’re hypnotized,” the vocals let out further, yearning for “something new,” as charismatic guitar tones blend with post-punk bass-y ruminations. “Wake Me When It’s Over” struts a memorably melodic drive from The Heroic Enthusiasts.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
