Tender Claws – “I’m a Leech”

/

Liverpool-based solo artist Tender Claws unveils a delectably snarling alt-rock appeal on new single “I’m a Leech,” inspired by the artist’s decision to pursue a music career instead of something more “sensible.”

The artist elaborates: “Although it was initially done unintentionally, I think the atonal nature of ‘I’m a Leech’ and the detuned intro and outro really suit the song topic as I find it quite uncomfortable and exposing to openly admit to having negative thoughts and feelings about my musical ambitions, but writing about how I feel is somewhat therapeutic and can also lighten my mood.”

“I’m a leech, doing nothing to earn my keep,” suave vocals let out amidst grungy guitar distortion. A bass-heavy intrigue enamors during the “like me,” vocal sequence, joined by a twanging guitar adornment that furthers the melodic entrancement. An invigorating rock production stirs throughout alongside, showing nostalgic grunge and alt-rock inspirations within a grippingly intimate thematic exploration into the music industry and its resulting anxieties.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
