Ryan McMurtry – “Full Picture”

Tender guitars and hazy harmonica traverse seamlessly through “Full Picture,” the affecting new single from Ryan McMurtry. The Bristol, UK-based singer/songwriter describes the release as “about feeling lost in the present, being worried about the path you’re on and that moment when you decide things are going to change in your life.” The release is inspired by a late family member, who McMurtry describes as “a beautiful person, they were just on a troubled path.”

Contemplative vocals admit to progressing through life, asking “will I ever understand?” in the context of “restless feelings,” that lay dormant with the potential for brighter days and a new dawn. The “floating down this river,” sequence is especially magnetic, as the McMurtry admits being “tired of gazing at the past.” “Full Picture” is a resonating, soul-searching piece of songwriting from Ryan McMurtry, who also excels as the guitarist and vocalist in the bands Play Misty and Sugarmoon, in addition to his stellar output as a solo artist thus far — which includes the previously featured track “Summer Rain.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
