Proklaim – “PROSPERITY”

/

Chilly piano and fervent strings complement a gripping vocal precision on “PROSPERITY,” showcasing a strong hip-hop sound from Proklaim. Catching our ears earlier this year with the track “STARFALL,” the Namibia-based artist achieves a moody sound that excels in its fast-paced verses’ contemplation and soulful “sunshine, moonlight,” central hook.

Alongside the compelling, atmospheric beat, “PROSPERITY” presents raw emotion in its lyricism — taking inspiration from recent events, and particularly the arrest of hip-hop mogul Sean Combs. “Lost in the ocean, led by the stars,” the opening vocals intrigue, exuding a clinging onto hope and Proklaim’s vocals emerge with a call to “tell my people we’re free,” as the ravishing strings emerge. Further references to self-built empires and the dichotomy of sunshine/moonlight — “it’s all a day,” — further the commentary, how life “is all about the four stages.” “PROSPERITY” compels in its overall melodic drive and lyrical contemplation on societal truths and personal power.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Hip-Hop’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
