Platonick Dive – ‘Take a Deep Breath’

/

Take a Deep Breath is the stirring new album from Platonick Dive, an Italian band that crafts an eclectic sound spanning from moody guitar envelopments to dreamy electronic immersion. The trio, formed in 2010, comprises Gabriele Centelli, Marco Figliè, and Jonathan Nelli. Glistening guitars commence a standout album track in “Carpet Ceiling,” a stellar showcase of the band’s tendency in the more guitar-fronted, rock spectrum — traversing into a powerful wave of guitar distortion in the second half following the lusher initial spell.

“Falls Road” is another highlight, infusing chilly synths and an electronic rhythmic detailing for a stellar atmospheric effect. Guitars play an enjoyable role here as well, though comparative to some of the rock-heavy opening tracks “Falls Road” embraces their electronic arsenal with immersive qualities. “Santa Monica” is another charmer that infuses serene synth whispers and gently caressing guitars, finding a blissful balance. Take a Deep Breath is a resonating success from the heralded trio.
