Olhar – “Estrada”

/

Described as “about an experience about riding into the unknown,” “Estrada” is a hazily enveloping success from Austin-based act Olhar. The project’s leader, João Rangel, draws inspiration from the likes of MBV, Slowdive, and other purveyors of textured rock and shoegaze.

“Estrada” develops with eclectic appeal from spacey synth lushness into blasts of fuzzy guitar distortion, showing a diverse grip from the get-go. Rangel’s present a lushly contemplative charm, as do intermittent brass-y effects. “Estrada” compels in its heady, atmospheric melding of dreamy emotion and textured rock vigor.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
