Marinho Nobre – ‘The Tale of the Desert Mountain’

California-based composer and producer Marinho Nobre fuses folk, New Age, and world music engrossment on the new album The Tale of the Desert Mountain, a ravishing display in atmosphere that also takes influence from “travels through the desert.” Mediterranean and other exotic instrumentation audibly depict soundscapes reflective of nature’s dynamic captivation, from high-scaling mountains to the endless sense of desert.

“Flying Through the Valley” provides immediate mystique upon opening the album. Clanging guitar beauty and soaring, chilly vocals immerse with a sound that matches the spaciousness of its desert inspiration. “Misty Dawn” ensues with an effervescent swell, resembling incoming rays of sunshine that brace the desert sands following the soft winds of nightfall. Then comes the plucky pushes in “Dust Devil Dances,” where frolicking instrumentation combines with lush string backings for ample immersion. Wordless vocals and strings also enthrall with beauty on “The Shrine,” an additional standout on a stellar album from Marinho Nobre that consumes in its atmospheric sound.

“Flying Through the Valley” is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Folk. Stream the playlist below:
