JBNG – “So Nice” + “Barely Know You”

/

Producing an invigorating vein of grunge-friendly rock, British Columbia-based act JBNG are releasing their upcoming album, Run, via a series of singles. Two are already out, both captivating with an emotive rock enthrallment that appeals across moments of spacious introspection and anthemic heights alike. “Barely Know You” released in August, and “So Nice” arrived on October 1st. Listeners can anticipate all of the album’s ten tracks to release as singles on the first day of each month, until the full-length release.

“I could have lost you, but I knew what I had to do,” Jaben John Groome’s compelling vocals lament during the dreamier sequences of “So Nice,” launching thereafter into a blistering dose of distortion amidst a title-touting fervency. This latest track from JBNG embodies their tendency for dynamic tonal structures and climactic drives, culminating past the two-minute turn into a riveting guitar solo that flows cohesively amidst the underlying distortion.

“Barely Know You” is similarly compelling, traversing from nocturnal guitar jangles into a satiating eruption of grungy distortion. JBNG show a commanding tendency for rewarding tonal build-ups and emotively gripping songwriting throughout these two tracks, leaving us firmly anticipating the upcoming singles and the ensuing arrival of the full-length Run.

“So Nice” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
