Jari Salmikivi – “Illusions of Truth”

/

An invigorating rock sound persists throughout “Illusions of Truth,” a track from Jari Salmikivi, a Swedish-Finnish guitarist, composer, and producer. Taking inspiration from acts like Dream Theater, an engaging aesthetic finds a melding of progressive and throwback rock vigor. Per the artist, the track addresses “disinformation, propaganda, ‘alternative facts,’ and sometimes blatant lies presented to us on social media and other media platforms.”

A whirring exhilarating emanates from the track immediately. Swelling guitar distortion and prancing synth illumination combine amidst percussive fervency for a sound unbridled in its passion. The soaring vocal emergence, letting out that “no one believes you,” continues the anthemic spirit — complemented cohesively by jangling guitars and keys that accelerate into the truth-referencing ascent and ensuing guitar solo, which enthralls.

“Embrace the truth,” the vocals further as the ignited hook arrives again, inducing replays throughout with a sound steeped in contagious energy and nostalgic rock passion — plus a poignant thematic drive, reminding to not be misled by disinformation. As Salmikivi explains: “Be very careful about what you read and see on social media and in the news. Some people may have a hidden agenda. Make sure to fact-check and don’t always take what you see/read at face value.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
