Gitkin – “The One” + “Tall Oaks Drive”

/

Two recent tracks from New Orleans-based artist Gitkin show ample stylishness with their instrumental rock intrigue. Last month’s “The One” is an eclectic gem — inspired by “classic Sudanese synth music, Black Sabbath and Disco,” — while the newly released “Tall Oaks Drive” struts a nostalgic appeal in its electric sitar lead and ’60s UK psych influence.

The aforementioned sitar traverses with a hypnotic passion amidst doses of organs, arriving at a sporadic mid-point with a ghostly, climactic allure. Meanwhile, “The One” excels with its confident rock pulse, with especially magnetic guitar work arising in the final minute. Gitkin thoroughly impresses with these two new releases.

These and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
