A hypnotic, brass-led beat and precise vocal entrancement stir on “Trabajo,” a compelling hip-hop track from Eyedeal Bayano. Featuring production from Blvck Rose, “Trabajo” consumes with its suavely melodic appeal and heartfelt, personal inspiration. The single cover is a 1972 photo of the artist’s father, when he was 25 and a waiter at Panama Señorial, a luxury hotel that catered to the elite. “Each day at work, he glimpsed at a life of lavishness, only to return home to the gritty reality of Panama City’s slums,” Eyedeal Bayano explains.
He continues: “For us, “Trabajo” means survival. It’s how my family survived in Panama. It’s also how my family left Panama, to later thrive in America. This song reflects the weight I carry, torn between my immigrant parents’ relentless work ethic and my dream of breaking free.”
The introspective themes of perseverance and work ethic enthrall throughout, with the “running late,” daily recollections reflective of “treat it like a track meet,” motivation in regards to one’s occupation. “Gotta get this money,” the vocals continue alongside the brassy intrigue, stirring in the overall charisma and evident tribute to hard work through generations, while also pondering one’s own place in tat context. “Trabajo” is an enveloping showing from Eyedeal Bayano.
