German band Darién Geep showcase a dreamy pop mystique on new track “alles gleich,” melding airy synth effervescence with caressing vocals and tropical-friendly rhythmic developments. The balmy, serene sound stirs in both moments of sparser percussive ruminations and effervescent synth-forward soaring, achieving a beautifully chirpy glistening across the final minute. The vocals prove impressive in their range from initial dream-pop subduedness into vibrant, escalating charm.
The project’s overall sound takes particular inspiration from a trip they took in September 2023, to “a very special Greek island in the eastern Aegean.” As they explain: “Through the influences of Greek salad, caffé frappé, the sun and the azure Mediterranean, we created a new sound for the moment. Our minimalist equipment (microphones and synthesizers) captured the spirit (and the sound) of this remote and beautiful island.”
