charlieCityy – “nothing, anymore”

/

Expanding from trickling pop emotion into a rock-forward catharsis, “nothing, anymore” is the latest single from charlieCityy. The Birmingham, UK-based artist embraces indie-rock and alternative influences on this stellar production, representing a relative stylistic shift. “I usually make hyperpop and glitch music so this was a nice change for me and portrayed exactly what I was feeling at the time,” charlieCityy explains.

Plucky instrumentation and steady percussion drive into a vulnerable lyrical outpouring. “Did I ever mean to hurt you? Did I ever really have to say goodbye?” the vocals question, touting an electro-pop shimmer in the vocal effect and twinkling complements. “I think she knows that it’s the end,” they admit further, building with hypnotic charm into electric guitar infusions in the final minute — injecting an invigorating quality upon the “knock at the door, I feel nothing anymore,” introspection. “nothing, anymore” is a stirring alt-pop/rock success from charlieCityy.

“nothing, anymore,” comes via the fall EP, streaming below:
