Small Boy – “Navigates Our Blood”

/

Spacey synths and a bouncy bass pulse commence the engaging “Navigates Our Blood,” an engaging new single from Small Boy. The Oslo-based band describe the release as “about how life ultimately moves toward the end, second by second, and that apart from this truth, the future is an impossible thing to predict.”

They continue: “But the song doesn’t ask you to lose heart because of this. On the contrary, it encourages you to appreciate these seconds, regardless of what might be travelling through your blood, and the time you have right here and now.”

Twangy guitars tones gradually accompany the driving, melodic charm as ethereal vocals emerge. “Nothing ever will be the same,” they let out, as lush backing vocals complement with sporadic enticement. References to the future ascend into a more enthused vocal presence at mid-point, as the “when you are there with me,” adorations continue the enveloping qualities. “Navigates Our Blood” is a lovely output from Small Boy with new-wave, dream-pop, and post-punk shades.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
