People Museum – “Magnolias Meet Me”

/

New Orleans-based act People Museum build a steady entrancement on new track “Magnolias Meet Me.” Claire Givens’ powerful vocal presence is complemented by simmering synth pulsations, enveloping in its dreamy pop arsenal. Givens’ vocal range spans seamlessly from lusher introspection and heightened moments. Givens and trombonist/producer Jeremy Phipps formed People Museum in 2016, and continue to impress with their emotive and melodic sound, fit with the mysterious shades of something resembling a David Lynch film.

They elaborate on the track:

“Magnolias is a reflection on living in a place that you deeply connect with in nature amongst the trees but feel totally disconnected on a political, personal, and ideal level. Living in the south can be challenging, because many people are unwelcoming to the “other” – but finding a home in the landscape can be totally renewing and life saving.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
