Oceanspace – “Witchy”

/

Thumping bass and dual-vocal immersion combine for a darkly enveloping intrigue in “Witchy,” a newly unveiled track from New Zealand-based act Oceanspace. They describe the release as telling “the story of a powerful woman who must choose between love and power when she falls for a mortal.” The “she’s a witch,” vocal declaration and ensuing laughter meld enjoyably, emitting a replay-inducing spontaneity. Debonair and playful vocals both appear at points, within flourishing synths, twangy guitars, and a steady bass pulse. “Witchy” is a stylish overall success, showcasing the project’s knack for memorably eclectic sounds — deftly balancing psychedelic hypnotics and danceable vigor.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
