Balancing artful pop and rock intrigue, “Peruvian Dreams” is the latest single from MONOHAZE. The project was formed in 2023 by multi-instrumentalists Christian Wosimski and Justus Wilcken. Their varied talents result in a rewarding, eclectic sound; Wosimski was a member of the band Bitune for over a decade, and Wilcken has seen success as a composer and opera singer for over eight years.
Debonair vocal aspirations for “a hideout,” exude a feeling of escapism as steady rhythms ruminate. A funky bass line melds cohesively within the jumpy guitar tones, which assume a brass-y reflection into stylish guitar insertions past the one-minute turn. A sweltering guitar emphasis at mid-point conjures shades of Radiohead in its glistening backing textures, and eventual movement into haunting vocal eeriness and flashes of organs past the two-minute mark. “Peruvian Dreams” is a thoroughly compelling success from MONOHAZE.
