Michael VQ – “First World Violence”

/

“First World Violence” is another stellar track from Michael VQ, who caught our ears with the track “RICH P” in August. “First World Violence” struts an enjoyably melodic vigor throughout. The vocal delivery reminds fondly of Danny Brown’s melodic looseness, arriving into the “my eyes have seen enough, for a lifetime,” catharsis — where a distorted clanging character immerses alongside. The track excels in its hip-hop vocal drive, clanging sense of distortion, and dystopian-feeling music video accompaniment.

The artist adds that the release “calls out our cultural addiction to bloodshed, and states plainly the crooked intentions of the military industrial complex, so the elephantine Rhodes chorus can stampede forth to press those sentiments deep into the mud where they belong.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
