Jeremy Parsons – “The Garden”

/

San Antonio-based artist Jeremy Parsons captures the interconnectivity of gardening and mental well-being on new single “The Garden,” taking inspiration from Parsons’ childhood memories. He has fond memories of his youth and helping his father, renowned horticulturist Dr. Jerry Parsons, in the family garden. “I have many childhood memories of wishing I was somewhere playing with my friends instead of working in the dirt,” Parsons says. “As I got older, this shifted. I wanted to help, and I understood the connection. It was his great joy and passion, and he opened my eyes to see nothing like it.”

A twangy production with Americana and country warmness, “The Garden” “Does it whither when you’re feeling blue?” Parsons’ vocals inquire, comparing the importance of nurturing among humans and plants alike. “I see you looking for the sun,” furthers those artful relations, melding with hypnotic guitar work and steady percussive playfulness. The conveyed “hard work always pays off in the end,” ruminations also explore the power of self-betterment, and how emotional and nutritional sustenance alike leads to a radiant existence. “The Garden” is a stirring piece of songwriting from Jeremy Parsons.
