House of Allegro – ‘Evolution’

//

London-based act House of Allegro build a riveting electronic sound throughout their new album Evolution, showcasing inspirations that range from UK future house to USA dance music. It’s an apt blend from the duo, comprising UK-based producer Alec and USA-based singer Michelina.

Album track “Heartbreak Goes Like” is especially exemplary of the project’s ability to balance atmospheric intrigue and infectious danceability. Playful piano stabs arrive into spacey synth haziness, complemented by a steady vocal peppiness and percussive momentum. Airier effervescence arrives during a prancing hook at the one-minute turn; dreamy vocals seamlessly incorporate alongside. The track is a standout on an album with a variety of successes, replay-inducing with its melodic vocal drive and pulsing synth passion.

Heavenly, wordless vocal effects and glimmering synth adorn another highlight in “For You,” while “With You” struts a nocturnal-friendly dance/garage suaveness — its “let’s have a sleepover,” vocal enticements and laughing effects adding well to the yearning. “Should I Stay” closes out the album with glistening piano and arp-y synth arrivals, satiating with its vocal samples and electronic glow. Evolution is a gripping success from House of Allegro.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
