Head Sound – “Home”

/

A resonating rocker from the band’s debut album, “Home” showcases the dreamy shoegaze enthrallment coming via Head Sound, a band based in upstate New York. Hypnotic reversed vocals lead seamlessly into triumphant guitar tones, finding a beautiful middle ground between the dream-pop modernity of Beach House and textured, nostalgic lushness of My Bloody Valentine. An initial yearning for personal freedom is conveyed lyrically, as certain imagery — “chase the sun as it disappears…” — melds aptly within the caressing rock aesthetic.

Roaring guitar distortion invigorates as the two-minute turn approaches, infusing cascading guitar tones with a whirring sense of exhilaration. The vocals retain their serenely contemplative charm during the “home is where,” sequence — capturing the warming embrace of a place that feels invitingly familiar. “Home” enamors in its range of serene reflectiveness and bursting doses of textured guitars, making for a thoroughly successful rock production from Head Sound.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
