Dan Cooney – “THIS FEELING”

/

Conveying the state of being in love, “THIS FEELING” is a melodic rock success from Long Island-based artist Dan Cooney. Murky guitar twangs and anticipatory percussion ascend into a grungy sense of nostalgia.

“I see you in every season, you always leave me with a reason,” Cooney’s vocals let out as the guitars assume a warming reflection, shifting into what feels like a blend of radiant power-pop and comforting alt-rock nostalgia. An enjoyable range between pulsing distortion and jangly warmness shift seamlessly throughout, culminating in the memorable “every season,” central hook.

“THIS FEELING” marks a compelling showcase in hazy rock songwriting from Dan Cooney, who describes the release as “written from my experience of being really in love. I felt like I needed to get this out. Even if it was only that one person who it’s about heard it, it would be a weight off of my shoulders.” We’re excited to hear what’s next from this solo project, which Cooney formed after playing in numerous alternative rock band in previous years.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
