Cigarettes for Breakfast – “Seeing Stars”

/

Philadelphia-based band Cigarettes for Breakfast craft a dreamy, shoegaze-friendly sound on new track “Seeing Stars,” which represents the second single from their upcoming album, Slow Motion, out on February 21st via Abandon Everything Records. Matt Whiteford’s heartfelt songwriting resonates throughout, intended as a song for “his now wife, as she embarked on a year long journey early in their relationship.” “Seeing Stars” is a spacey, immersive listening experience that has us firmly anticipating the rest of Slow Motion.

Percussion kicks into droning guitar tones and dreamy vocal caressing; the textured rock appeal is immediate. The “I close my eyes, and I dream about you,” sequence exhilarates with whirring guitar momentum and a sense of yearning, reflective of lovesick sentiments. The vocals maintain a contemplative intrigue throughout, fading back as the intense slabs of guitar distortion conclude the production with satiating impact. “Seeing Stars” is an immersive rock success from Cigarettes for Breakfast.
