Carl Liungman – ‘Change’

A beautiful display in piano-driven compositions, Change is the new album from Carl Liungman, an artist based in Västervik, Sweden. It’s an apt album for contemplation as the seasons change; themes flow in representing “loss and new beginnings,” — through love and hope, but also morose topics seemingly touched upon like in “Final Days,” as parents grow older and fade away. Heartfelt piano progressions linger on that track, feeling wistful upon the ascending tones past the one-minute turn and into a delicate sense of contemplation.

The subsequent “Hope” is an apt follow-up, seeking light following personal tragedy. The melancholic piano direction is chilling, traversing into perkier illumination into the mid-point before further somberness shows in the riveting conclusion. “Survivor” resonates with a perseverant immersion, invigorating with its vibrant and brisk piano movements. Change is a gorgeous album from Carl Liungman that proves impactful in its stirring arrangements and thematic depictions of personal tragedy and ensuing perseverance.

“Change” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
