Bosola – “Vanilla Beige”

/

Newcastle-based rockers Bosola unveil a delectably raucous sound on “Vanilla Beige,” a gripping single that thematically captures tumult apparent in daily life. Showing shades of The Libertines in its escalated vocal fervency and ardent guitar tones, “Vanilla Beige” also succeeds in its millennial anthem quality — capturing a generation caught between a self-involved older generation and an emotionally conscious younger generation.

The vocals impress with a dynamic tonal range, ranging from the expressive “I’m a fool,” admissions to more paced contemplation. A bass-fronted pulse proves particularly magnetic at mid-point, traversing seamlessly into the “I got feelings I cannot name,” vulnerability — and then launching into a climactic burst of twanging guitars as “thoughts to kill,” emanate with an impassioned spell. “Vanilla Beige” is an impactful, invigorating rock success from Bosola.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
