Autumn Cooper – “Jean Seberg”

//

A beautiful folk-forward intrigue takes hold on “Jean Seberg,” a newly released track from Autumn Cooper. Drawing inspiration from Arizona’s spacious landscapes, Cooper melds enthralling vocal performance with artful lyricism and steady guitar-forward instrumentation. “Jean Seberg” is noted specifically as being “inspired by the lives and deaths of Jean Seberg and Sylvia Plath, and one fateful, frightening night in the Paris summer heat.”

Wordless vocal gorgeousness and steady vocals complement a desert-set acoustic balminess; the ghostly vocal tone and folk-friendly immersion reminds aesthetically of Weyes Blood. “Right from the start the armies marched, but they went too far,” Cooper sings, with imagery of foreboding complementing the spacious envelopment. “Jean Seberg” is a stirring showcase in folk songwriting from Autumn Cooper.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
