All The Pretty Horses – “Frances” + “I Will Always Be Around”

/

Showcasing a compelling range between lusher contemplation and fervent rock expanses, All The Pretty Horses compel across the new album Witches Up No Mountain Switches Down No Valley.

Written as a love song for the artist’s cat Franny, “Frances” moves into lush acoustics and slight percussion stomps into an opening introduction. “Her eyes stare into mine,” the vocals let out, the descriptions clearly that of a beloved friend. A burst of guitar distortion pairs with fervent vocals and lingering organs as the “I look into her eyes,” marveling continues; it’s a heartfelt, melodic ode to Franny that resonates. “I Will Always Be Around” is another success, also succeeding in its swell from quainter reflections into distortion-touched, fuzzy nostalgia.
