All Societies – ‘Its where we meet’ EP

UK-based act All Societies unveil a melodic rock appeal on their new EP, Its where we meet. Modern rock and shades of nostalgic post-punk intertwine with replay-inducing effect across the release’s four tracks.

“Golden” commences the EP with a spacey synth intrigue, quickly traversing into thumping bass and a vocal questioning, asking “so why doesn’t it feel golden?” upon the allegation that one was born during a golden, glorious time. A peppier vocal shift aligns with infectious guitar lines, showing shades of Talking Heads in its charismatic ascent. The ensuing “Sulk” weaves moodier guitar tones and vocal maneuvers for a decisively post-punk feeling, maintaining a steady vocal tone into twanging guitar expressions in the final minute.

The EP impresses across all four tracks, with the jumpy “Protocols” conjuring excitement into the finale “Wait for the Cliff,” which melds excitable rock modernity with a rhythmic backbone showing shades of a caffeinated Joy Division. Its where we meet is a consistently strong showing from All Societies.

“Golden” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
