Alex Heldt – “I Still Can’t Help Myself (Haunt Me)”

/

“I Still Can’t Help Myself (Haunt Me)” is a stellar new track from Alex Heldt that fuses angst-y grunge with electronic aspects. Formerly an industrial house artist, Heldt is now succeeding with a sound exuding an emotive, nostalgic rock tint — citing inspirations such as Superheaven, quannnic, Deftones, and Yung Lean.

The emotive, hazy vocal delivery melds well with a gauzy, warming dose of guitar distortion that lingers and steadily escalates. Multiple vocal layers combine with chilling effect after the one-minute mark, asking “is it wrong?” into further compelling guitar murkiness. “I Still Can’t Help Myself (Haunt Me)” is an enveloping success from Alex Heldt.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
