Tom Roppelt – “Receptor”

//

Boston-based musician and producer Tom Roppelt shows a riveting sound on new single “Receptor,” unveiling a gorgeous melodic direction amidst a range of radiant synths, jangling guitars, and various “found sounds” — like banging radiators, floor boards, and beyond. The production is tonally eclectic, while still being very approachably melodic.

Quaint, nocturnal guitar jangles are quickly complemented by buzzing synths, as Roppelt’s vocals exude an initially subdued presence reminiscent of Junior Boys. A radiant synth-laden shimmering shows thereafter, evolving gradually in perkiness as playful synths and snappy percussion emerge as the vocals encourage to “close your eyes.” “Receptor” develops with gorgeously climactic appeal, firmly showcasing Roppelt’s skills as a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and video creator.

Check out the track’s music video, which was crafted by Roppelt, who used “mirrors and lens balls to match the atmosphere of the song”:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
